I beat Ninja Gaiden!

Feb.25, 2010, under Uncategorized

Since I have taken a full-time job in Dallas at Fellowship Church, this blog will probably start to feature much more silly & personal experiences of mine. I’ll still be posting new video projects and tips, but it will hopefully start to be more than that. Anyways, on with the story…

Beating Ninja Gaiden for the NES has been a dream of mine for a long time. I was never able to come close as a kid. After watching the “Angry Video Game Nerd” give his recent review, it inspired me to go back and beat this game. Here’s the result of lots of practice, memorization, and dedication.

It’s not impossible! You can do it! Thanks to Ryan for coming over and helping!

Lunchtime with the kids

Jan.19, 2010, under Uncategorized

Today was perfect weather for eating lunch outside today. Temperature was excellent and the overcast sky made it too tempting to get out the camera! This is just a full little clip of my kids eating nicely and then of course arguing over who gets the last piece of PB&J!

Shot with my new 55mm 1.4 on my T1i.

Safari footage… finally

Jan.19, 2010, under Uncategorized

This footage has been way too late in coming, but better late than never! Featuring Lazarus, the awesome Kenyan guitar player at the Samburu Serena lodge we stayed at on our way back from Turkanaland this past summer.

Funny story: we noticed he was taking requests so I told Aaron that I would give him 200 Kenya shillings if he would go request Hakuna Matata as a joke. Lazarus gladly agreed to play the song, but as it turns out there is a popular song in Kenya named “Hakuna Matata” that is NOT from the Disney movie.

Needless to say, it became our anthem for our time on the safari. And even though we didn’t know any of the lyrics we sang it all the time.

This safari footage features giraffes, elephants, leopards, dikdiks, and lions in their natural environment. It was an amazing experience! Enjoy!

Oh and for you videographers that read my blog, this was shot on a Canon XH-A1.

Share International Benefit Concert – Poster Design

Oct.08, 2009, under Uncategorized

While I don’t advertise myself as a designer since video is my passion, I do have a degree in graphic design and occasionally need to layout some print stuff.

Here is a poster design for the upcoming Share International Benefit Concert. It’s a fundraiser for Share International, and it also will be the public debut of the fundraising video I shot in Kenya. So you should at least come to see that :)

A Few Kenya Clips

Sep.06, 2009, under Uncategorized

I’m diving into editing my footage form Kenya this week. I pulled these 4 clips to do some color-correction testing, and now I’m uploading them for you all to see. I have a ton more footage, and I’m definitely saving some of my BEST shots for the final long video. :)

I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse into one of the most amazing experiences I have ever been a part of.

Psystar Contest Entry

Sep.01, 2009, under Uncategorized

Here is a commercial I shot in my dining room last night for a contest that Psystar (a Mac clone maker) was running. Getting that seamless background was alot of fun. Now I gotta go clean up the mess I left last night…
